EAT YOUR BOOKS

May, 2014

The Northern Hemisphere summer cookbook releases seem to be more decadent than in years past, with odes to fried chicken, ice cream, pâtisserie, and cocktails, while books from Australia and New Zealand look to Asia for inspiration.

We also have exciting news about expanded features available to Free Members, another newly-indexed magazine, several author interviews and four cookbook giveaways. Finally, this month we travel to Australia for a great cookbook store profile and to Ballymaloe in Ireland to learn about LitFest.

Expanded features for free members
Go ahead and start your happy dance; EYB has expanded the services available to Free Members. Now anyone with a free membership can add an unlimited number of online recipes to his or her EYB Bookshelf. That includes the nearly 140,000 online recipes currently indexed on EYB from the best blogs, chefs, and cookbook authors. Of that 140,000 there are over 20,000 links to recipes from cookbooks (equivalent to 100 cookbooks) and to over 45,000 magazine recipes (equivalent to 780 issues of magazines)! You can also add recipes from any website using the Bookmarklet, and add your personal recipes too. Find all of the details on these great services here.
Cookbook store profile - Scrumptious Reads
What do you do when your culinary book collection is getting larger by the minute? Open a culinary specialty bookstore! That was the impetus behind Scrumptious Reads, the cookbook store in Brisbane, Australia  owned and managed by Julie Tjiandra and Reyna Portilwas. Find out what makes their shop special and ponder upcoming events like a rooftop honey workshop.
