Book2Book Wednesday 14 May 2014

The Modern Peasant: Adventures in City Food by Jojo Tulloh has won the Food Book category in this year's Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards 2014.

The awards were presented by Claudia Winkleman at Fortnum & Mason last night. The Modern Peasant was published by Chatto & Windus in May 2013, and also made the shortlist for the Andre Simon Food and Drink book awards 2013.

Square Peg title Great British Bakes by Mary-Anne Boermans was shortlisted in the same category as The Modern Peasant, and Claudia Roden (Food of Italy, Square Peg) was awarded Judge's Choice. Kerstin Rogers (whose book, Ms Marmite Lover's Secret Tea Party is due to be published by Square Peg later this year) won the Online Food Writer Award.

Previously the Glenfiddich Food & Drink Awards, these awards celebrate the best writing and broadcasting on the subjects of food and drink. There are 12 categories and an independent panel of judges selects the winners from work published or broadcast during 2013. The judging panel included food writer Matthew Fort and chef Valentine Warner.
