Quercus signs MasterChef's Coleman

Quercus will publish the first solo cookbook from Natalie Coleman, the winner of last year's BBC "MasterChef".
How I Made It: Winning Recipes for Every Day was signed in a deal for world rights from Debbie Catchpole at Fresh Partners. It will be released in October 2014.

Coleman, described by Quercus as a "Hackney girl done good", was working as an accountant and techno DJ before entering the TV cookery competition, but is now working in food full time. She has worked at Michel Roux Jr's Le Gavroche, Fergus Henderson's St John, and Tom Kerridge's The Hand & Flowers.

Mark Smith, Quercus c.e.o., said: "Nat has not only completely charmed us here at Quercus, she’s charmed the nation, and we expect great things from her."
The book will include recipes for homemade salt beef, honey ricotta ice cream, and orange olive oil cakes.

The three finalists, including Coleman, had a selection of their recipes released in MasterChef: The Finalists (Bloomsbury) in October last year.
